Breakfast with Santa

What? Lansing Elementary PTA Breakfast with Santa!

When? Saturday, December 12th. 8-11am

Where? Lansing Elementary School Gym and Cafeteria

Why? All Whos consume all-you-can-eat pancakes! Keep the Grinch away in visiting Santa! Enjoy fun crafts, hot chocolate bar, a shop for little Whos to shop, and live music to make their heads bop! Increase hearts 3 sizes with silent auction basket-fundraising and raffle tickets to help local animals and a chance to win prizes!

$8 for presale tickets or $10 on event day. Presale ticket forms and payments are due on or before Thursday, December 10th. Cash accepted or checks written to the PTA. More info on the PTA website, Facebook page, or call Lauren Wilson at 702-6145.

Calling all Photographers

Calling all Photographers!!! 

Share your candid photos and they could be included in the yearbook! To submit photos to the yearbook staff, go to http://community.lifetouch.com and register with the following access code: WUGBKM
Once registered, you will receive an email from Lifetouch with an activation link. You must click the activation link before you can log into the Lifetouch Community Image Upload site.
*Upload 5 images at a time (10mb or smaller)
*Enter a description for each image so the yearbook staff can easily identify what is happening in each photo. Including grade and teacher in the description would be extremely helpful.
*The adviser will determine which images are used in the yearbook.

Parent Teacher Conferences

Parent/Teacher Conferences are this week and we cannot wait to share all the amazing things your child has been learning this past quarter. These days can be long and consuming for our teachers and we want to help! Our hope is to support our teachers and staff during this time by providing meals.
Below is the sign up list. There are 3 meals we are requesting help with.
  • Wednesday night dinner
  • Thursday morning breakfast (PTA is providing coffee)
  • Thursday afternoon sides (PTA is providing pizza)

Spiritwear is for sale until Sept 30th! Please send in the spirit wear flyer (linked below) with your student to school, or bring it with you to the Carnival next week! If you prefer to pay via debit/ credit card, we will have the paypal card reader available at the carnival for spiritwear purchases.

Monster Book Fair

The Book Fair is coming……..so get ready to scare your way into some new books. This book fair will come with new hours and a new theme. This year we are hoping to create some games for the kids that buy books. We will have a drawing on monster eyes for each kid that buys a book from the book fair. At the end of the day Wednesday, we will draw 10 numbers and if the kid have that number….then they will win a gift.

We are having a grand night. Please let your kid ask someone who is grand to join them into coming up for the book fair. We will have some events available at this time. Face painting, bag toss, and more.

Wednesday October 14
We will be letting the kids come in before school, during their recess time, and a t the end of the day to buy books. Please allow your child to bring money with them to school for this event.

Carnival Postponed

Due to some anticipated severe weather on Friday, September 18th, we are rescheduling the Carnival for Friday September 25th. Place and times will stay the same!

Spring Into Box Tops

SPRING into Box Tops!!!

CONTEST DATES:  Monday, March 30th - Friday, April 17th.

 (All entries must be submitted to the classroom teacher by 3pm on Friday, April 17th for pick up 

and to be eligible in the contest)

PRIZES: The winners will be (1) class from the K-2 side and (1) class from the 3-5 side that 

collect the most box tops and Campbell’s labels. Out of the 2 winners, the class that has the 

most collected will receive “Pizza for lunch” and the other class will receive “Ice Cream” 

COLLECTION DESCRIPTION: When clipping the box top please cut out on the 

dotted line for box tops and Campbell’s.    

Campbell’s labels for education must have the barcode attached to the point value. 

When attaching box tops to the box top collection sheet, use tape or glue ONLY to apply them; 

PLEASE DO NOT USE STAPLES. Please do not attach bonus box tops to the sheet. Place bonus 

box tops and Campbell’s labels in separate zip lock bags with your child’s name and teacher on 

the bags. ONLY (50) BOX TOPS GO ON A SHEET. If you choose to not attach box tops to the 

collection sheet, please just collect them in a separate zip lock bag from the Campbell’s labels.

Mother - Son Brunch and Bowling Event!

Please join us Saturday, April 25th from 10:30 - 11:30 in the LES cafeteria for a mother-son brunch, and then from noon- 5:45 at Crown Lanes in Leavenworth for a Mother-Son bowling event!

Description of Board Positions

Nominations are open for the 2015- 2016 LES PTA Executive Board. Without these positions filled, we will not be able to have a PTA next year. Elections (if necessary) will be held on Wednesday, February 18th. This gives the current board a few months to hand over the reigns, and allows the next board to participate in the budget preparation for their term. Positions are open to all parents and teachers. Below is a detailed list of responsibilities for each board position as well as an estimate of the time commitment involved. If you are interested in filling any of the below positions, please send an email to lansingelementarypta@gmail.com .

•  Attends and leads board and general meetings monthly.  Prepares agenda for both meetings.
•  Attends PTA events.
•  Responsible for the preparation of the budget.
•  Plans the event calendar with input and updates the school and district offices.
•  Co-sign checks for PTA expenses.
•  Keeps up with emails and fields incoming requests.
•  Helps coordinate committees and approve project/event plans.
•  Job averages 5-8 hrs per week.

•  Fills in for president in their absence for board and general meetings.
•  Helps with committees and coordinates chair-persons on events.
•  Manages the PTA website/blog and Facebook page.
•  Assists with membership and directory.
•  Co-sign checks for PTA expenses.
•  Attends and helps with events and programs as needed.
•  Averages 2-4 hrs per week.

•  Attends and records minutes for all general and board meetings.
•  Types meeting minutes and sends to president for presentation at the next general meeting.
•  Assists with membership and directory.
•  Attends and helps with events as needed.
•  Prepares weekly Friday folder email.
•  Averages 2 hours per week.

•  Manages funds for the unit, keeping accurate and detailed account of all monies received and paid out.
•  Keeps permanent treasurer books of accounts and records; including bank statements, receipts, budgets, invoices, and paid receipts.
•  Makes disbursements as authorized by the approved budget.
•  Presents financial reports and answers any questions at all board and general meetings.
•  Makes bank deposits and readies cash boxes for events.
•  Assists in developing the budget.
•  Readies documents for tax preparation.
•  Prepares and attends quarterly audit.
•  Attends events and is the final count on all monies received.

•  Averages 5-8 hrs per week.

Father Daughter Dance

The 2015 Lansing Elementary PTA Father/Daughter Dance will take place on February 13, 2015 from 7pm - 9pm.

Enjoy great dance music, snacks and beverages, and a lifetime of memories sure to be created.  A photographer will be on sight to capture the moment for a fee.  Carnations will also be on sale for $1.00 each.

Parent Teach Conference Meals

Twice a year, the Lansing PTA hosts potluck breakfasts and lunches for our amazing Lansing teachers and staff who work extra hours at our school during Parent-Teacher Conferences. We will be serving lunch on Wednesday, February 4th and breakfast on Thursday, February 5th.  Please click on the sign-up genius link to sign up today!

PTA Elections for the 2015-2016 school year will take place at the PTA Meeting on February 18, 2015 at 6:30PM in the LES Library.

This is an incredible opportunity to make a difference in your child’s school. All positions are open for nominations. We encourage you to talk to any current board member if you have questions about what is involved. We are in need of creative, energetic and dedicated individuals to help make the 2015-2016 school year the best yet! Yearlong positions require attendance at monthly board meetings and PTA meetings. The board is responsible for setting the PTA calendar, planning student and family events, fundraising and working with the staff and families of Lansing Elementary. The board represents all the PTA parents and are advocates for the students of Lansing Elementary.

Board Positions Available:

President & Vice President
Works with all board and chair positions along with Lansing Elementary administration to promote a positive and productive PTA that assists and advocates for all students and families of Lansing Elementary

Documents and organizes PTA minutes, PTA emails and other PTA correspondence.

Oversees all PTA finances both collected and written out. Keeps budgets and files a monthly Treasures report.

Book Fair

It is book fair time again! February 4-12th the LES PTA will be hosting a bookfair on the stage. At the Book Fair you will find the latest and finest titles for kids, as well as books of interest to parents. You can also contribute books to your child's classroom library!
